Mission Statement
The Foundation for Philippine Progress, Inc. is dedicated to empower and engage communities in programs and projects for the Philippines to secure quality health, education, and basic human rights for every Filipino.
About This Cause
The Foundation for Philippine Progress, Inc. (FPP) is focused on building three pillars towards our vision for "a full life for every Filipino": health, education, and basic human rights. Health: Due to extreme poverty and underdevelopment of areas in the Philippines, many people in rural communities have poor health, with residents suffering from poverty-related diseases. Often they die without being treated. Thus, basic medical care and equipment are needed. FPP partners with hospitals and community health programs in the Philippines, and coordinates and funds medical and surgical missions. FPP also partners with well-respected community disaster relief and response management organizations to support disaster relief due to calamities such as typhoons, volcanoes, and earthquakes. Education: A great number of Filipino children and youth in rural communities don't have access to education. Aside from poverty, the location of schools in towns and urban centers prevents many students from attending classes. FPP supports the development of community schools in the Philippines to increase access to basic education that is free, within reach, and culturally responsive. Human Rights: The human rights conditions in the Philippines are ever worsening. The Filipino people find themselves in precarious situations with each calamity that come their way. With greater access to health care, accessible education, and basic human rights, more rural and economically marginalized Filipinos will be able to live longer and healthier lives. FPP helps to improve access to basic human rights through ensuring sustainable access to water supply and food security in several regions of the Philippines where communities have to constantly rebuild from the havoc wrought by typhoons and other calamities that hit the country at least 15 times a year.
