We envision a society enriched by the ingenuity, creativity, and contributions of young adults from underserved communities who are achieving their potential and positively impacting their communities and professions. Our mission is to empower young men and women from underserved communities by providing them with structured support, skills training, and career opportunities to help them realize their potential and achieve meaningful personal and professional success.
About This Cause
Ansar Services of Greater Washington DC is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3), Tax-Exempt organization whose mission is primarily focused on minority and underserved communities throughout the Greater Washington DC region. We provide Workforce Development (WFD) Services and Programs for young adults (ages 17 to 24) in partnership with other community-based organizations. Our WFD and Corporate and Community-Based Partners include CVS Health and GE Aerospace Corporation. This partnership provides pathways to a range of job and career opportunities. Our Urban Center for Community Innovation and Technology (UC2IT)® is a broad-based technology and workforce development resource center that works in partnership with other community-based organizations. The purpose of UC2IT is to unlock the latent potential within young adults, providing them with the resources, encouragement, and direction they need to become high-achieving contributors to their communities, professions, and society. UC2IT includes an online learning environment for skills development. We also collaborate with community-based Tech partners to provide “hands-on” skills training, that includes Robotic and Drone technologies. This rich learning environment and supporting processes are designed to prepare young adults for career opportunities related to the “Future of Work.” It focuses on the following major areas of skills development and training: ⁻ Tech Skills Development ⁻ Coordination of WFD Skills Training Resources ⁻ Higher Cognitive Skills Development (Critical Thinking, Agile Thinking, etc.) ⁻ Professional and Social Skills Development ⁻ Self-Leadership Development UC2IT provides young adults with specific learning paths and learning modules that correspond to its major areas of training. Our Tech Skills Development includes both Foundational and Advanced Skills Development in a range of current and emerging areas of technology. Ansar Services, in collaboration with our Community-Based partners, prepare young adults for the “Future of Work” in terms of their cognitive development (e.g., critical-thinking), problem-solving, and teamwork. In addition, opportunities for IT Certifications are available for those program participants who qualify for further advanced training and related support (in preparation to take certification exams). Our support includes mentorship by IT professionals and practitioners. UC2IT® also guides young adults through an engaging process of personal growth and enrichment, as part of our Self-Leadership Development (SLD) program. This includes instruction and coaching to help young adults develop and grow as a “whole person”, meaning in terms of their emotional, mental, intellectual well-being and preparedness. SLD topics include being responsible and proactive, exercising self-discipline, and being principle-centered (e.g., integrity).
