Mission Statement
The primary goal of the Holiday Card Challenge and @cards2connect Programs is the collection and delivery of personalized , signed expressions of respect , care, and gratitude to US Troops, Veterans, and Service Families. These cards and letters of care reflect genuine support and appreciation of our military heroes, letting them know that they are not alone during the holiday season and throughout the year. These connections of gratitude provide a bridge to home, family and community, decreasing isolation and the distance between us.
About This Cause
For almost two decades, the Holiday Card Challenge has been an avenue for local communities as well as a nationwide effort to easily create and send cards to our Troops, Veterans, and their families. What started as a grass roots mission has become a national passion with a concrete and clear way to meet our goals. Card signers from tots to the most senior of our population sign cards and are shipped to NH to be sent out. The heart of the CHallenge is during the Winter holiday season but in the last several years, cards of appreciation are sent throughout the year. THe volunteer efforts are taken up by families, communities, schools, businesses, both small and large. The donations go directly to the costs of shipping the cards and related costs. A nonprofit organization was created to allow for such donations, especially for businesses. There are easy ways to donate through Givebutter, Amazon Smile, directly donation and a new program, Sponsor-A-Box. THIs program identifies boxes of 1,000 cards with a family, individual , and or business name for the cost of 100.00 per box. All donations are so greatly appreciated no matter the size and many companies engage in employee challenges that result in team building. Leadership development in students of all ages comes with joining in as well. One of our military heroes described getting a card as the difference between despair and isolation and hope and joy
