STOP THE ADDICTION FATALITY EPIDEMIC - SAFE - PROJECT US

ARLINGTON, Virginia, 22201-4470 United States

Mission Statement

To contribute in a tangible way to overcoming the addiction epidemic in the United States.

About This Cause

SAFE Project was founded by Admiral James and Mary Winnefeld, following the loss of their 19-year old son Jonathan to an accidental overdose. The Winnefelds immediately channeled their grief into action by creating a nonprofit to fight addiction and prevent other families from suffering the same loss that they had endured. Relying upon a comprehensive evaluation of the addiction problem, the Winnefelds created a nonprofit which specifically addresses the six primary factors to overcoming addiction in our country. Their work builds collaborative programs amongst all relevant entities in Public Awareness; Prevention; Law Enforcement; Prescription Drugs and Medical Response; Criminal Justice, Treatment and Recovery and Family Outreach and Support. Each of these programs are coordinated directly with Communities (SAFE Communities); Post-secondary institutions (SAFE Campuses); Businesses (SAFE Workplaces) and Servicemembers, Veterans, their families and caregivers (SAFE Veterans). SAFE Project works to save a life every day as it fights to end the addiction fatality epidemic.
