Mission Statement

To create memorable experiences for people of the Puget Sound through fun, inclusive and relevant events. Connecting people with communities and communities with memorable experiences.

About This Cause

Since its launch in 1950, Seafair has been Seattle’s signature summer celebration. Long before professional sports teams or the Space Needle shaped the city skyline, Seattleites gathered to celebrate community, culture, and fun through Seafair. Now marking 75 years, Seafair has grown into a 10-week festival that includes more than 30 events and reaches over two million people throughout the Puget Sound region each year. As a nonprofit organization powered by nearly 3,000 dedicated volunteers, Seafair remains committed to producing free and affordable events that bring people together and reflect the diversity and energy of the Pacific Northwest. Seafair’s mission is to unite neighborhoods and celebrate the best parts of life in this region through inclusive, joyful experiences that are accessible to all. Annual highlights include: A Fourth of July celebration with live music, family-friendly activities, and fireworks over Lake Union A vibrant nighttime community run and city parade through downtown Seattle An action-packed summer weekend featuring hydroplane racing, aerial performances, live entertainment, and cultural showcases by the lake Dozens of neighborhood and cultural events throughout the summer, including parades, performances, and community celebrations Seafair is more than just a festival—it’s a tradition that connects generations, honors local history, and creates shared memories for all who call the Pacific Northwest home.
