Mission Statement

Excel Community Schools contributes to communities through building future-focused, education-centered hubs with attention on healthcare, housing, and the workforce.

About This Cause

Excel Community Schools (ECS) is a Mississippi-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and transforming local communities through comprehensive, future-focused initiatives centered on education, healthcare, housing, and workforce development. ECS has a proven track record of fostering community growth and addressing critical needs through innovative initiatives and partnerships. Through our comprehensive services, modern programs, and dedicated leadership, we strive to create a more equitable, healthy, and educated community. Our History: Since its 2018 inception, ECS has been a beacon of hope and support in Greenville, Mississippi, and beyond. The organization has sponsored over 175 community events, served over 13,000 citizens, fed over 100 families, and positively impacted seven Mississippi counties through food giveaways, clothing donations, community health events, and more. Our efforts have made a tangible difference in the lives of underserved and marginalized populations, promoting well-being and fostering resilience. Services Provided: ECS offers a wide range of services aimed at uplifting the community. Our initiatives include: • Food Giveaways: Providing essential nutrition to families in need, with events attracting between 2,500 and 4,000 underserved citizens on average. • Clothing Donations: Ensuring that individuals have access to necessary clothing items, particularly during times of crisis. • Community Health Events: Conducting healthcare events, including drive-thru PPE giveaways and free health screenings, which attract up to 1,000 underserved citizens, many of whom lack health insurance. • Educational Programs: Enhancing learning opportunities for youth and adults, with plans to expand these programs in the near future. • Pandemic Response: Heightening community services during the COVID-19 pandemic through testing and vaccination sites, PPE giveaways, and additional food distributions. Recent and Future Endeavors: During the COVID-19 pandemic, ECS intensified its community support efforts, significantly mitigating the pandemic's impact through various free events and resources. However, the pandemic also limited certain endeavors in education, housing, and workforce development. Looking ahead, ECS aims to revitalize these areas by: • Expanding Educational Programs: Offering more comprehensive educational opportunities to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. • Establishing Community Gardens: Initiatives like the Better Health Community Garden to alleviate food insecurity and promote physical and mental well-being. • Addressing Health Disparities: Continuing to provide healthcare services and screenings to underserved populations. • Launching a Community Food Pantry: Plans to launch Divine House of Washington County in 2025 in collaboration with the Mississippi Food Network to further combat food insecurity and support community health. Sustainability: The ongoing nature of ECS operations ensures that our programs are sustainable. While initial funding covers start-up costs, the recurring expenses are relatively low, making it feasible to maintain and grow our initiatives. We plan to sustain our efforts through: • Quarterly Farmers Market Sales: Selling harvested produce to reinvest funds into the community garden. • Grants and Donations: Continuously seeking additional funding through grants and donor contributions. • Community Food Pantry Program: Launching by 2025, funded by the Mississippi Food Network and other donors, to expand our reach and support.
