Mission Statement
To empower and develop in youth and young adults vocational skills in the bicycle repair and specialty coffee industries.
About This Cause
Silver Stallion is a social enterprise nonprofit bike shop and coffee shop located in Gallup, New Mexico. We are committed to providing all Gallup and nearby Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi Nation youth and young adults with education experience in the bicycle repair and specialty coffee industries. The Stallion’s convictions, in turn ambitions, regarding the bike and bike access are: 1 — human lives –especially within childhood, are positively effected by outdoor, social recreation activities 2 — unique and exceptional impacts are had collectively in lives experienced on bikes, on trail, and within a community-based setting 3 — in turn, there are exponential positive impacts in the lives of youth who are able to access trail systems from their door step 4 — the Stallion efforts and operations seek to exude the same value and recognition it has and believe exists within a fostered relationship to riding and maintaining a bike 5 — through on-going Silver Stallion Mobile Ride Center programming rural locations beyond Gallup can begin to flourish in regard to increased ridership, camaraderie, trail development, general health and well-being 6 — we believe, like the US Federal Government, that the bicycle is an essential item in the lives and well-being of All the People 7 — Silver Stallion Bicycle & Coffee Works Inc. seeks to offset systemic barriers to industry access and participation by providing a systemic approach to dynamically address the social, geographic, and logistical challenges inherent to ridership in this region In every city around the world there are bike shops and coffee shops. For the young lives that step through our door, we hope to empower and develop the personal belief and skill to determine one’s own future. Upon exiting, we hope those who have experienced our programs understand that there are thousands of doors in hundreds of cities that they can walk through with confidence.
