Mission Statement
The King’s Academy partners with families to provide children with an exemplary Kingdom education by investing in the whole child; spiritually, academically and emotionally.
About This Cause
TKA primarily serves students in the South Dallas/Bonton community, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Dallas, where children are impacted by the following: - 50% will be incarcerated before their 25th birthday - 50% will never graduate high school - 80% of our TKA students live at or below the poverty line Many of the children at TKA are also from single-parent homes and are impacted by incarceration and low educational attainment. Kingdom education focuses on bringing the home, church, and school into a partnership to train the next generation. As part of a Kingdom education, TKA encourages the growth of the whole child—spiritually, academically, physically, emotionally, and socially. We recognize that every child is unique with his or her individual rate of development, and our instructional program is designed to help each learner reach their full potential. Throughout each school day, our teachers create and maintain a learning environment where students are treated with dignity, respect, and love. Key aspects of TKA’s educational programming include biblical integration, learning differentiation, well-balanced curriculum—incorporating nutritional, physical, technological, language, and fine arts education; meeting physical needs— providing meals and exercise; individualized instruction/tutoring; extracurricular activities; and positive social emotional development. We believe that students are more likely to be successful when their home, school, and community work in tandem and when their most basic needs are met. Therefore, we provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks at no cost to our families. We also work with community partners to connect each household with community resources. We currently have a waiting list for enrollment. In the spring of 2022, 80% of TKA third-graders met or exceeded national norms in math and reading on the Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) test. To keep them on this trajectory of success and achievement, we depend on the generosity of individuals, families, organizations and churches to allow us to continue transforming lives in South Dallas through our proven approach to educating the whole child. Become a TKA Partner when you sponsor the tuition for a student each year of school. Our partners sponsor TKA students at one of three levels: the team level $5,000, the half sponsorship level $7,500 or the full sponsorship level of $15,000. Become a Friend of TKA when you support our general operating needs. You make exemplary education possible at The King’s Academy when you make a gift of any amount to provide tangible needs such as: textbooks, uniforms, fine arts, breakfast and lunch daily, field trips and extracurricular activities. Will you help a child change the trajectory for a student in South Dallas? Give now and get involved. Learn more about how you can make an impact on our school by visiting tkadallas.org.
