Mission Statement
Work in partnership with the Catholic United American Foundation to provide Isla Mujeres and Yucatan youth with a vocational education with which they can pursue a meaningful career in the local tourism industry.
About This Cause
The Yucatan Education Project is partnering with the Fundación Católica América Unida to build a vocational university in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Currently, youth on the island have no access to quality education and are relegated to part time work in the informal economy. Many households suffer from alcoholism and are considered dysfunctional. The Universidad Sacro Coure will alleviate this. The University will offer three-year licensed programs in tourism management, hotel management, gastronomy, languages, and computer science. Upon graduating, students will be able to obtain high paying jobs on the island, supporting the local community and the island economy.
