Mission Statement
The mission of the Fort Loudoun Historical Society is to preserve, manage, maintain and accurately interpret the Pennsylvania State Historic Site of 1756 Fort Loudoun. Its focus is to provide a wide spectrum of visitors the opportunity to visit a recreated French and Indian War era frontier post; to convey an accurate, educational and vivid image of the life and times of the soldiers who built and garrisoned the fort, of their Native American and French counterparts, and of the settlers in the region it helped to protect.
About This Cause
In 1975 the Fort Loudoun Historical Society (FLHS) was established and incorporated in anticipation of our nation’s 1976 Bicentennial celebration. From its inception, the goal of FLHS has been to reconstruct the fort and develop a comprehensive educational interpretive program at the French and Indian War era historic site of Fort Loudoun. FLHS is currently managed and operated under the leadership of an all-volunteer board of directors, who meet on a monthly basis. This board consists of an elected president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, event coordinator, and historian, and three non-titled board members. None of the board members are financially or otherwise compensated for their duties and services. Society membership is open to the general public. Financial support and operating expenditures are obtained through donations, fundraisers, grants, and the leasing of arable cropland on the property.
