Cultura Brasil Austin is a non-profit educational and cultural organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Brazilian culture around Austin and beyond. CBA aims to be a reference as a service provider for the Brazilian community, helping its integration with local community and contributing to its growth.
About This Cause
Cultura Brasil Austin is a non-profit organization serving the communities in the Greater Austin area and beyond. Ways the organization’s supports its mission: 1. Education & Culture - Cultura Brasil in Austin promotes art and cultural education by sponsoring and providing programs related to various aspects of the Brazilian culture including language classes, visual and performing arts, a library, lectures, workshops, forums and events which promote the Brazilian culture and traditions. 2. Community & Integration - Cultura Brasil in Austin aims to support communication and cooperation within the Brazilian community and promote the integration of Brazilian immigrants into the American culture, language and local lifestyle, so that they can become more productive and better contribute to the American society. The organization fulfills its objectives through the following activities: 1. Educational Programs: - Portuguese as a Heritage Language Program (PHL) - Portuguese as Second Language Program (PSL) - English as Second Language Program (ESL) - Environmental education - STEM & Makerspace - Language & Cultural Workshops - Teacher Training 2. Lecture & Workshop - Lectures and workshops designed to include a variety of topics such as skill development, Austin-Brazilian success stories, cultural and integration information, orientation seminars. 3. Cultural events - Art gallery and market - Music - Traditional Brazilian Celebrations 4. Community Assistance - Newcomers' Orientation - Assistance to other non-profit organizations (book, food, clothes drive, etc.) - Assistance to individuals in need (psychological, economic, educational, etc) - Library & Storytime - Professional and Life Skills Workshops
