Mission Statement
Building Hope Summit County is a community wide initiative designed to create a more coordinated, effective & responsive mental health system that promotes emotional health, reduces stigma, & improves access to care & support for everyone in Summit County.
About This Cause
The mission and vision of Building Hope is clear: To provide more access to mental health care for Summit County residents and employees. Building Hope does this by coordinating with other local organizations, mental health organizations, and residents, reducing stigma that prevents outreach, and improving the supports available to everyone working or living in Summit County. In 2016, several well-known Summit County locals took their own lives. Included among these individuals was Patti Casey, a long-time Breckenridge resident with deep roots in the community. In honor of her life, Patti’s family created the Patti Casey Memorial Fund to provide the initial support for the Building Hope initiative. With the support of Tim Casey, The Summit Foundation convened a large group to launch this important community effort. In June 2016, over 60 community leaders came together to explore current needs and commit to designing a sustainable solution to the community’s mental health needs. Incubated at Family Intercultural Resource Center for the first two years, Building Hope’s programs and impact have grown remarkably. In the spring of 2019 Building Hope received the official 501c3 status from the IRS and opened an office in Frisco. Leading that team Jennifer McAtamney, the executive director has grown the organization to three full time employees, 6 part-time team members, an incredible and dedicated board of directors along with over 100 volunteers. As a result, the reach of Building Hope in the community has multiplied many times over. Despite its growth Building Hope remains even more committed to its mission, continuing to refine and expand their flourishing program areas and vital partnerships with over 50 agencies and businesses in Summit County.
