Mission Statement
GAAAYS IN SPAAACE (GIS) is an LGBTQIA+ nonprofit organization which advocates for the inclusion of all underrepresented communities in both Science Fiction and the actual Space Industry. Our organization has been building bridges & uniting people from all walks of life since its founding in 2016. We’ve hosted 300+ events that have brought countless people together because of their mutual love of science fiction shows like STAR TREK & THE ORVILLE. The future they depict is one we all want to live in. One where true equality has become a reality. We have created a safe space for people to come together to celebrate both their similarities and their differences. We have also launched ambitious endeavors designed to help humanity bring that utopian vision of the future to life, today. Our youth initiatives such as the ‘Inclusive Space Academy Scholarship’ and the ‘Inclusive Makers Space Expansion,’ take direct action to inspire and empower students from all underrepresented communities, including LGBTQIA+, to pursue their love of science and confidently work towards achieving their dream of a career in the STEM or Space Industry. The steadfast partnerships we have forged with so many dedicated, influential leaders in both the worlds of science fiction and science fact make possible the continuation of our trek towards a more hopeful, prosperous future for all humankind.
