Mission Statement

Poverty Alleviation Charities is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use Art as a conduit to transform passive compassion into immediate assistance through the distribution of money given, without expectation or judgement, directly to families suffering poverty.

About This Cause

Our vision is twofold: to provide unique programs which alleviate the physical and emotional suffering that families endure as a result of the inequities that accompany poverty and to assist impoverished families in directly combating poverty with the only known remedy: money. Letters To Santa program (since 1995): Surprising families on Christmas Morning with dozens of gifts, including basic household necessities, groceries, new clothes, toys, a computer for every child and the one gift that every family suffering poverty needs most: MONEY. Sceneworks program: Offering free 8-week Confidence Building Camps for children affected by poverty. Our trauma-informed curriculum was developed to address suffering through the use of improvisation, method acting and meditation. Sightworks program: Creating media content that advocates for those silently suffering poverty. Funny people & extraordinary musicians challenge tradition by creating an Awareness Program that uses Improvisation and Satire to explicate #WhatPovertyReallyLooksLike and #WhyUnconditionalGivingWorks. Teamworks program: Partnering with like-minded volunteer organizations to achieve shared philanthropic goals. Through this program, we sponsor an annual book bag & school supply drive, a halloween festival in a neighborhood unsafe for trick or treating, and an organization that provides feminine hygiene supplies for girls and women who do not have the resources to support or acquire these essential items.
