Mission Statement
Aster Initiative is a community partner providing immediate action and compassionate care for residents of Central Brooklyn through equitable access to life-long learning through a variety of pathways. Our areas of focus are children's early access to quality learning experiences, mental health and wellness, poverty and parental support and guidance. We partner with community-minded organizations with the financial capability to support families in much-needed communities.
About This Cause
Our immediate work is centered around after-school for children ages of 3 years to up. These are critical years in childhood development. The impact of the pandemic has disproportionately affected small to large-sized household income making it even more difficult to access extra curricula support for children during parent work hours. This has led to significant systemic disadvantages in professional growth opportunities for minorities, shortage of women in the workforce and increased violence in communities of color. Adequate and guided extracurricular activities would impact the trajectory of many of our youngest and brightest children while families who must work can work. Our Vision is to ensure sufficient access free to low cost after school programming for working families regardless of your economic background or locality. In turn we also want to equitably support our programs initiative to sustain teacher salaries and other critical necessities to provide loving care and education to our city’s children daily.
