Mission Statement
Exposing strong high school students from all over Ethiopia and Jamaica to computer science and algorithms.
About This Cause
AddisCoder, Inc. runs two annual programs. Each program is a free intensive 4-week summer program that introduces high schoolers to programming and algorithms. The first program launched, "AddisCoder", takes place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; the second, "JamCoders", takes place in Kingston, Jamaica. In each case, students are current high schoolers who come from all across the country to take the course. After the summer, teaching staff also shepherd high schoolers who are interested through the U.S. college application process. Donations are used to fund costs related to the program, e.g. housing and flights for teaching staff, meals and lodging for students, as well as to fund such application costs for strong students. Donations received will go the organization's general, unrestricted fund unless a comment is included that specifies otherwise.
