Mission Statement
We work to promote the sport of lacrosse in Argentina and other South American countries. While the sport has enjoyed a considerable increase in international popularity over the past two decades, there are still many regions in which the sport is relatively unknown. One such region is South America, where at present Argentina is the only country with a governing body that is a full member of the Federation of International Lacrosse (“FIL,” the internationally recognized governing body for lacrosse). A major obstacle to the expansion of the sport in that region is a lack of access to necessary equipment, including safety equipment, and instruction about how to play lacrosse safely.
About This Cause
We want to complement the efforts of the FIL, the Argentina Lacrosse Association (“ALA”), and other national governing bodies to grow the game of lacrosse primarily by donating necessary equipment to amateur teams, schools, and ALA-sponsored clinics in Argentina. After we establish a track record of achieving success in our primary mission and secure the financial foundations for the organization, we hope to expand our efforts by: • providing stipends and other monetary support to experienced U.S. coaches to travel to and live in Argentina to provide instruction to amateur teams, schools, and ALA-sponsored clinics; • funding trips for particularly talented athletes from Argentina to travel to the U.S. for training camps and recruiting opportunities; and • assisting with the construction of lacrosse facilities in Argentina. Eventually, we hope to expand our efforts to other South American countries, especially Chile, Colombia, and Peru—all of which have national governing bodies with limited membership in the FIL. We intend for a substantial percentage of these efforts to benefit organizations and individuals in Argentina who would not otherwise be able to afford equipment, instruction, or access to facilities.
