Mission Statement
Unconditional's vision is to promote a world that sees the value of senior and special needs dogs, and inspires people to look beyond age and ability to embrace all that these dogs have to give. Our mission will be achieved by innovating better opportunities for these dogs and humans to connect, ensuring our ability to spread compassion, multiply resources, strengthen communities, and build families. When we succeed, our organization will benefit not only senior and special-needs dogs, but humans as well.
About This Cause
Unconditional is a Laguna Beach-based nonprofit dog adoption and rescue organization focused on saving senior and special needs dogs – the most overlooked and at-risk population. Sadly, these dogs are being left behind in public shelters at alarming rates. We need to take bold action to change that. The team at Unconditional is working to rewrite the future for these beautiful pups - in a big way - by building a world-class adoption center right here in Laguna Beach on Laguna Canyon Road (opening in early 2025!) Unconditional will be a serene and positive environment where adopters and the community can see all the love these special dogs have to give. By focusing on their unique personalities and the joy and warmth they offer - not their age or limitations – we will find them homes and rewrite their stories. We achieve our mission in the following ways: Champion Sustainable Operation A beautiful and welcoming home backed by a strong financial partnership is a winning combination. Our for-profit sister organization, Rise Pet Health, will provide for all medical care costs for our rescue - which we anticipate will exceed 50% of our ongoing operating budget. We are setting ourselves up for success from the beginning, and are confident that our strategy will allow our continued growth and impact for many years to come. Collaborate with Rescues There are many existing rescue organizations all across Southern California doing incredible work, and one aspect of our mission will focus on creating and supporting a network of such organizations. We will do this by providing them with access to space, resources, and our growing audience of visitors and supporters. When these external organizations are better able to succeed, we all succeed - and the dogs most of all deserve a strong win! Cultivate the Community Unconditional Rescue belongs to the community - and like any community, we are stronger when we work together. Our goal is to positively impact everyone who interacts with our organization, both two-legged and four. By ensuring the welcoming nature of our location, we will attract people from every walk of life, providing them with positive interactions with both representatives of our organization and the senior and special dogs we serve. Create Greater Understanding There are people all around us that have not yet been privileged with the experience of interacting with senior and special dogs, and might even harbor sad misperceptions about what they are all about. Beyond promoting adoptions, we will pursue our mission through educating the public about what amazing beings these dogs really are, and all that they have to give and teach us. Connect Loving Families Those of us who have been fortunate to love a senior or special dog know just how lucky we are. We will spread that luck to more and more people by removing barriers and promoting a greater ability to interact with these dogs firsthand, and benefit from the experience of welcoming them to their loving families. Free from the typical barriers that prevent people from meeting senior and special dogs, our home-like environment will inspire people to see how much adopting these dogs will add to their lives and families. Change the World Saving one dog at a time is a noble endeavor, but we know that the true success of our mission relies upon our ability to change hearts and minds about senior and special dogs. Everything about Unconditional Rescue has been thoughtfully planned with that goal in mind. You can be a part of the reality that we all know is possible, and change the world for senior and special dogs for good.
