Mission Statement
We believe in creating affordable and memorable experiences for our fans so they can grow closer together with family, friends and our community through the game of baseball.
About This Cause
For more than 100 years, the Indians have taken great pride in serving the central Indiana community, as both an entertainment option for fans and, more increasingly, as a partner to nonprofit organizations who uplift the communities served by the Indians. As the Indians' popularity and success have grown, the organization has challenged itself to give back to the community at ever increasing levels over the years. This desire to improve the lives of central Indiana residents gave rise to Indianapolis Indians Charities (IIC), a charitable organization whose sole purpose would be to help central Indiana youth and families grow stronger together, learn more and live healthier lives. Indianapolis Indians Charities understands that by investing in and allocating resources to youth development today, the next generation of Hoosiers can leave a lasting impact on society tomorrow. Over the last fiscal year (Oct. 2019-Sept. 2020), IIC engrained itself as an asset to youth development in Indianapolis by renovating baseball and softball diamonds at Forest Manor Park and Manual High School, providing underprivileged youth opportunities to remain active and build trust through teamwork amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Indianapolis Indians Charities supports families with resources including after-school programming, mentor opportunities, and assistance with college and post-college career preparations. Indianapolis Indians staff members partake in physical construction projects such as building new homes for deserving families and improving facilities for therapy programs in and around Marion County. IIC also held a blood drive in partnership with American Red Cross Indiana. Indianapolis Indians Charities’ third pillar focuses on education at all levels, from pre-K through the college ranks. When Indianapolis Public Schools closed their doors for the 2019-20 school year because of the pandemic, IIC stepped up to the plate in a big way to help students further their education while learning from home. IIC provided funds to purchase e-learning tablets and Chromebooks for students who had to face those educational struggles head-on. Food hunger has unfortunately been a mainstay in impoverished Indianapolis neighborhoods for years, and it became an even larger struggle when the pandemic hit as job loss forced more individuals and families to seek help from local food banks. Indianapolis Indians Charities’ focus on neighborhood development ranges from combating food hunger to supporting first responders and essential workers, with IIC donating over 80,000 meals to local food banks and serving meals to nurses working the front lines of the pandemic. IIC will provide and support sports-related opportunities for children under 18 to have productive and healthy outlets for their time, and instruction and developmental programs for amateur baseball athletes of all ages. Our newest partnerships with Alternative Baseball and Kulture City remove barriers to the sport of baseball for youth and adults who identify on the autism spectrum. Victory Field is scheduled to be sensory inclusive certified in 2021. The organization believes in providing fun, affordable entertainment to families and friends through the game of baseball with all walks of life welcome at The Vic. IIC is actively supporting Indy Police Athletic League and their baseball fields for 2021, furthering their goals of building bridges between local youth and law enforcement. In partnering with groups like Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI), we will have the opportunity to provide and support clinics, lessons, leagues and seminars to instruct and educate children on baseball and how it can guide them towards an educated and physically healthy lifestyle and away from trouble in their neighborhoods. Created by the longest-running sports organization in Indianapolis, IIC will have a dedicated mission to developing the city’s local neighborhoods.
