About This Cause
Dearing House is a nationally accredited child advocacy center that serves as the hub for a coordinated community response to victims of child abuse in Kay and Noble Counties of Oklahoma. Our focus is to put the needs of children first by collaborating with law enforcement, child protective services, medical and mental health, prosecution and other advocates to provide a child-friendly setting for developmentally appropriate, legally defensible forensic interviews, specialized trauma counseling, family and child advocacy, sexual assault examinations, and community awareness...at no cost to families. We support children and families as their advocates during the investigation of crimes against children and possible court processes, as well as help children heal through counseling. Our 8 week parenting class, Break the Cycle, helps parents understand the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on their own parenting and helps develop protective capacities and the ability to reduce threats of harm to their children. Dearing House assists in the professional development of our community partners and coordinates a Multidisciplinary Case Review Process that facilitates communication and collaboration among all agencies responding to victims of child abuse.
