Mission Statement

The mission of Parking Reform Network is to educate the public about parking policy impacts and to provide material and informational assistance to other persons and entities involved in parking reform education.

About This Cause

Parking is expensive to build, takes up lots of space, and encourages more car ownership and driving. For generations, public policy has encouraged and, in most cases, required the construction of ample parking in commercial and residential developments. Some impacts of this policy has been that fewer homes are built in areas with good transit and walkability, that the homes that are built are more expensive, that communities sprawl outward onto farmland and natural areas, and that more greenhouse gases are emitted as people drive more. The Parking Reform Network provides resources for advocates of affordable housing, sustainable transportation, and climate action to educate the public about the impact of parking policy on these important issues.
