Mission Statement
MHM’s mission is to provide quality early childhood education for low income children to prepare them for school. MHM’s priority goals are to: —offer a quality educational experience inspired by the Montessori philosophy —provide a professional workforce who receive ongoing education and training —exemplify effective leadership by cultivating a culture of excellence and accountability —continue ongoing efforts to cultivate innovative partnerships — assure MHM’s fiscal health with resources that result in program quality and excellence
About This Cause
MHM offers a premier Montessori inspired early learning program to more than 500 children at-risk primarily due to economic circumstances, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, daily at five centers. A sixth center is a community learning site offering weekly formal group sessions for children and Family, Friend and Neighbor caregivers through the Play and Learn Group and Babies Ready for College (BRFC) programs. MHM also operates two drop-in care centers in partnership with the City of Denver, Denver Warm Welcome Court Child Care and Good Beginnings at Denver Human Services. MHM’s educational approach is inspired by the principles of Maria Montessori but supplemented to meet the needs of the specific population we serve. At MHM this means a greater emphasis on language, literacy, and social/emotional development. As we continue to learn more about child development, we incorporate best practices. Montessori fosters social competency, a habit of concentration, initiative and persistence, pride in the physical environment, and a life-long joy of learning – all qualities which research shows lead to proven school success and responsible and engaged citizens.
