Mission Statement

Resource Central's mission is simply to put conservation into action. We empower 100,000 community members each year to save water, conserve energy, and reuse building materials to create a more sustainable lifestyle. These actions add up to an impact that matters for our planet, from one home to another, across neighborhoods and communities in Colorado.

About This Cause

Resource Central was founded in 1976 by a group of community-minded citizens seeking ways to help reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources. The organization has since developed extensive expertise in the areas of school energy education, reclaimed materials, and Waterwise yard transformations. Our programs include: Materials Reuse Located in Boulder, CO, the Materials Reuse facility accepts donations of architectural salvage for reuse and upcycling, diverting millions of pounds of materials from the landfill each year and providing affordable reclaimed building materials. Water Conservation Programs Resource Central works with over forty water utilities in the Front Range and Western Slope to provide direct services to help businesses and residents use less water through the use of technology, equipment swaps and upgrades, and education. We offer seven different programs that support individual, municipal, and state water conservation goals. Renew Our Schools This is our K-12 energy education program that ignites the next generation of conservationists in a fun and engaging competition around saving energy at school and at home. The program has engaged all major school districts in Colorado and now has a nationwide presence across a dozen states.
