Mission Statement
The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for families, children, and individuals who are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness throughout Colorado. CCH advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being and stability of those it serves. Since its founding more than 30 years ago, the organization has earned state and national recognition for its integrated healthcare, housing and service programs. The Coalition's comprehensive approach addresses the causes of homelessness, as well as the consequences, offering critical assistance to over 20,000 individuals and families each year.
About This Cause
We believe homelessness is solvable. Homes, health, and hope are the answer. We provide all three. Homes-More than shelter. A home-a place that feels safe, a place with community-is essential for long-term well-being. We do much more than build and manage housing. We create communities of neighbors-communities that support each resident's success. Every night 4,111 households have safe, affordable homes because of the Coalition's work. The people we serve are as diverse as our community: individuals and families, veterans, and people with disabilities: people who need a lot of help and those who need just a little. Health-Healing the whole person. Access to comprehensive health care is critical. People experiencing homelessness often have complex physical and mental health needs. Our expert health care teams integrate primary and behavioral health care, dental and vision services, and extensive treatment programs for those recovering from substance use disorders. Each year, more than 14,000 people receive health services through the Coalition, where healing is paramount. Hope-A better life is possible. Treating everyone with dignity and respect affirms their capabilities and fosters their hope for the future. Housing and health care open the door to other resources and services that support a person's long-term stability, for example: Vocational Services staff guide clients to become job-ready and connect them with employers for skilled, sustainable employment that pays above minimum wage. Teachers at our Renaissance Children's Center, specially trained in helping children overcome the trauma of homelessness, provide child care that also enables parents to work or complete their education. Peer Mentors, valued staff members who have experienced homelessness, help others access the resources needed to attain and sustain lasting stability. We are the lasting solution to homelessness.
