Mission Statement
The Kempe Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. We work to ensure all children have the opportunity to develop and grow in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment by supporting experts in the field, advocating for children, and engaging with communities. Through partnerships with The Kempe Center, human service agencies, other child-serving nonprofits, and funders, we make a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities.
About This Cause
• Supporting Experts: We support research-based programs offered by the Kempe Center, a leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, to provide opportunities for all children to live safe and healthy lives. • Advocating for Children: We’ve assembled a team of experts, legislators, and advocates to advance policies that improve the lives of children and families in Colorado. • Engaging with Communities: We work alongside human services agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other community partners to provide the resources parents need to care for themselves and their families. Our Work • Health Clinic for Foster Children: Healthcare is a challenge for those in the foster system. Frequent doctor and insurance changes enables health problems to fall through the cracks. The Kids in Care Settings Clinic (KICS) is a one-stop-shop to give consistent and wholistic care to foster children. • Improving Mental Health in Public Schools: To address the rising youth mental health crisis, trainings are held to help schoolteachers and staff learn how to give proper support to struggling students. TRIP in schools, or Trauma-Responsive Implementation and Practice, is currently active in Weld County, Colorado. • Mentorships for Foster Children: Fostering Healthy Futures partners graduate students with youth in the foster care system. Having a stable and nurturing relationship results in less delinquency and a higher rate of permanency. And more!
