Mission Statement
Since 1993, Children’s Literacy Center (CLC) has worked to “Build a life of success through a foundation of literacy…ONE child at a time”. CLC provides FREE one-to-one tutoring to children reading below grade level in Colorado.
About This Cause
The Children’s Literacy Center (CLC) began as a Junior League project in 1991 and has since evolved into a statewide effort to build a life of success for children through a foundation of literacy. We provide one-to-one tutoring and curriculum materials for disadvantaged youth and their families. Additionally, we recruit and train nearly 500 volunteers each year. Beginning with one location and sixty-two children in 1993, volunteers continue to tutor using the Peak Reader curriculum at more than 17 community sites in Colorado.
