About This Cause
Growing Home is dedicated to creating a thriving and equitable north Denver metro area, one family at a time. Our participant-centered approach to strengthening families, nurturing children, and connecting community fill a critical gap for families and children who are experiencing immediate and long-term barriers to stability and success. Through evidence-based programs, we improve outcomes for children, their parents, and their community. Growing Home is a 501 c(3) organization founded in 1998. CURRENT PROGRAMS Food *Food Pantry: Growing Home offers a choice food pantry model where individuals are able to come in person and select culturally relevant, healthy food options for their family based on their family size. *Community Garden: Growing Home's community garden is run by a group of dedicated community members. Produce from the garden is routinely donated back to Growing Home's Food Pantry for distribution back to the community. * Food Justice: Growing Home facilitates a food justice taskforce, bringing together the community and stakeholders to solve issues related to food inequity in Growing Home's community. Housing * Housing Stability: Growing Home prevents family homelessness by stabilizing at-risk families with rent, mortgage, and utility assist, paired with case management that helps families identify root causes of housing instability and develop long-term plans for stable and affordable housing. Parenting Education *Parents as Teachers: Growing Home helps parents and caregivers acquire the skills and resources they need to ensure their children and future generations are on a path to a brighter future. The Parents as Teachers program provides home visitation for children prenatal through age 5, giving caregivers tools for their children's best social, emotional, physical and intellectual start. Lifelong Stability *Collaborative Coaching: Collaborative Coaching supports participants in advancing their long-term self-sufficiency and economic stability through evidence-based, case management that supports participants in setting goals. *Community Organizing: Growing Home works with community members to develop their advocacy skills, identifies and trains neighborhood leaders, and supports participants as they leverage their collective power to address issues prioritized by the community. *Advocacy: Growing Home monitors legislation around issues identified by participants as important to them and advocates for system changes that enhance community resilience.
