About This Cause

Holy Family High School is a Catholic, Archdiocesan, coeducational, four year, college preparatory school with an enrollment of 676 students. The goal of Holy Family is to foster strong moral and apostolic leadership in young people, supported by a strong belief in the help of God. Our community is made up of students, parents, faculty and staff, administrators, alumni, friends and benefactors; all striving together to accomplish their common purpose; build a community dedicated to excellence in education of the whole person Spirit, Mind & Body. Students are required to perform community service hours in order to meet graduation requirements. Service hours are not required to be completed with religious affiliated ministries. We have many students that work with A precious child, FISH, ELKS Club and other non-religious non-profits. Service Requirements for students include: Grade 9 Freshmen are asked to complete ten hours of service. Students are encouraged to work within their own faith community (this includes the family, school, parish/faith community). Freshmen may volunteer with one or more non-profit organizations. Freshmen are required to document their service hours using verification sheets, the sheets must be turned into their Theology teacher.due date will be assigned by the classroom teacher. Grade 10 Sophomores must complete fifteen hours of service. Five of those hours must include work with a needy population. Students must document their service hours using verification sheets, the sheets must be turned into their Theology teacher, the due date will be determined by the classroom teacher. Grade 11 Juniors complete their Apostolic Ministry Projects through their Justice and Peace class, participating in the Big Idea Project (BIP). Through the BIP, students identify a need in society they would like to do something about and work together with a mentor to design an action plan that addresses that need. Verification cards are not required for The Big Idea Project. Grade 12 Seniors will complete twenty-five hours of service. All twenty-five hours must be completed with marginalized and/or needy populations. Hours must be documented using Apostolic Ministry verification sheets. Seniors are asked to write a 3-5 page reflection paper on their experience of service over their four years at Holy Family. The paper will be assigned through the senior Theology teachers.
