Mission Statement

The Mission of the Augustinian Defenders of the Rights of the Poor is to build bridges between providers, recipients and community leaders across economic, political and religious spectra. A.D.R.O.P. accomplishes its Mission by matching individuals with identified needs to known resources in order to build better communities.

About This Cause

Augustinian Defenders of the Rights of the Poor (A.D.R.O.P.) is a non-profit in South Philadelphia focused on Wellness, Education, and Justice. The Unity Clinic has been in operation since 2006 and has primarily served adult members of the Indonesian community who are without access to health insurance offering primary care and physical therapy. A.D.R.O.P. offers classes in English for speakers of other languages. Finally, the justice programming includes a pen pal program connecting people incarcerated with the outside world, support groups for family members of people incarcerated, and a resettlement program that assists returning citizens as they leave incarceration. Our newest project is a job training and character-building program, Brewin Peace, which hires people formerly incarcerated to offer free coffee to the residents of South Philadelphia while also learning work skills under the guidance of A.D.R.O.P. staff.
