About This Cause
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic in SE Portland that offers affordable, patient-centered, inclusive, and trauma-informed primary care, mental health care, medication management, and complementary medicine in a welcoming setting. We also have a core goal of preventing provider and staff burnout. Offering a sliding scale model we support our community members to pay what they can for the care they want and deserve. We have never turned away a patient for lack of funds. Access to primary care, complementary modalities, and mental healthcare is a universal right. We want to make sure that we offer these three limbs of healthcare so you don't have to seek other providers, navigate waitlists, and visit multiple clinics. Additionally, our providers are able to collaborate to support our members with the best, most informed type of care possible. Your contribution will mean: - Care within a collaborative, trauma-informed, and equitable framework - An accessible sliding-scale fee structure: healthcare that prioritizes people, not profit - A holistic model that is boldly addressing social determinants of health and access to care A warm and caring environment - Reasonable wait times and familiar, responsive providers - Innovative and integrative health practitioners (behavioral health, nutrition, and Ayurvedic interns) - Classes and events to support community health education (such as lifestyle, nutrition, movement, stress reduction, and gardening) - Focus on wellness and prevention Patient Testimonial: We hear so many stories from patients who were failed by the medical community, who come to HLC and find a caring community of health. One in particular comes to mind, the story of a patient we’ll call Ari (and who enthusiastically consented to sharing their story with you, in the hopes of helping to motivate financial contributions to HLC!). Ari had changed insurance providers three times, seeking trauma-informed treatment for severe chronic pain that affected their ability to work and go to school. They’d been given differing and vague diagnoses, no consistent treatment. They were exhausted, nearly ready to give up on the hope of feeling well. At HLC, for the first time, Ari had a whole-person integrated healthcare experience. Their HLC primary care provider helped guide a course of treatment that includes physical therapy, naturopathic support, and pain relief.
