Mission Statement
To inspire and mobilize the American Beiyinu alumnae to support the advancement of our alma mater and philanthropy. (Empowering Women & Girls From Taipei First Girls High School.)
About This Cause
American Beiyinu Alumnae Foundation ("ABAF") was founded as a 501(C)3 organization as of 5/31/2019. ABAF’s objectives are to raise funds for: (1) alma mater's facilities and technology development; (2) the advancement of curriculum and programs to enhance students and alumnae' global vision and competitiveness via mentoring, leadership and communication skills development, career advice and networking. American Beiyinu Alumnae Foundation ("ABAF", 美國北一女校友基金會) celebrated its fifth anniversary on May 31, 2024. Through commitment from the Board, and the dedication of volunteers, we have successfully created a platform with multiple channels that mobilize our alumnae to make significant monetary contributions to our alma mater and enable young professionals to thrive in building their networks. ABAF collaborated with various alumnae associations and entities to deepen our impact. The synergy enabled many accomplishments, including but not limited to the following: 1. The Restoration and Reuse of Guangfu Building: ABAF received overwhelming responses to 【千手相攜, 光復再現】and remitted a cumulative total of USD $1,418K to alma mater in support of the project by May 31, 2024, involving 1583 alumnae who graduated from junior high since 1950 and high school from 1951 to 2021. The Campaign Finale was celebrated together with unveiling of the renewed Guangfu Building and the 120th anniversary of alma mater. • A total of 122 donors, spanning more than 70 years from the Class of 1952 to 2005, participated in the【綠園雙甲子,相約光復樓】homecoming event on 12/11-12/ 2023, to witness the grand restoration of Guangfu Building. An Honorable Donor Scroll was formally presented to alma mater as a historical document. • We would like to thank AATFGH-SCAL (Alumni Association of Taipei First Girls’ High School Southern California), TFGHAA-NC (Taipei First Girls' High School Alumni Association of Northern California), TFGH-GNY (Taipei First Girls High School Alumnae Association of Greater New York) to co-host the activities with ABAF, as well as souvenir gifts by the BEINU Boston • Following the homecoming event, an organized 5-day Huadong (花東) tour was held from December 13 to17. A total of 63 people attended, and the tour was well received. 2. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Girls Initiative: In 2024 and the years to come, ABAF is committed to supporting our alma mater in promoting smart teaching, stimulating and comprehensively enhancing students' interest and ability in STEM, and most importantly, nurturing future female science and technology talents in Taiwan. To take it further, an Endowment Fund has been established by ABAF in May 2024. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with 江學珠先生獎學金基金會 in collaboration with alma mater and to jointly move this long-term educational vision and objective forward. 3.Digital Innovation: The ABAF YouTube Channel was established in October 2020 for two goals - a funding source, and a broadcast/communication platform. AI generated videos and funding the first time ever worldwide livestream of 【綠園雙甲子,相約光復樓】homecoming event are testimony of ABAF’s continued attempt to adopt new technology. ABAF Young Professionals (formerly ABAF Millennials) channel was subsequently launched in July 2021, serving alumnae who graduated after Year 2000. There are over 150 subscriptions. It offers 6 playlists that benefit young professionals, 法律講座、生活系列、興趣小團、理財投資、綠園有約、職涯發展 with about 50 videos posted. 4. ABAF Young Professionals (formerly ABAF Millennials): ABAF young professionals has flourished dramatically since its strategical launch as part of the ABAF organization in May 2021 with the objectives to promote networking among millennial alumnae, to connect millennial to baby boomer alumnae, to cultivate leadership, to enrich their lives and to enhance their competitiveness in workplace. Their main activities include but not limited to: • Strengthened LinkedIn community and mentoring programs: 1-on-1 Mentorship and the Mentor Circle (formerly many-to-one mentoring program). • Held ABAF young professionals workshop in odd-numbered months. • Conducted in-depth dialog in small career groups . There are currently 5 sectors, a) Academic, b) Data & Marketing, c) Finance & Accounting, d) Pharma & Biotech, e)Software Engineer. 5. ABAF Endowment Fund. ABAF is dedicated to advancing academic excellence and fostering innovation at TFGH. In pursuit of this mission, we are establishing The ABAF Endowment Fund (Fund). Proceeds generated from the endowed capital will be used to continuously fund the school's long range strategic educational programs. The very first approved funding commitment is for STEM Girls. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Funding includes STEM educator recruitment, faculty enrichment, laboratory facilities & supplies, competitive events …just to name a few as examples. The vision is to promote and boost STEM education amongst young women. Foster and develop future female leadership in innovation for Taiwan and for the World. The Fund is restricted to support TFGH; however, it is not limited to only one use case. Once the Fund has matured and the STEM Girls project is well funded, pending approval by our Usage Review Board, other impactful projects may be granted in the future. The sustainable concept is a) to pool alumni resources together. Generate sustainable financial returns in order to continuously support TFGH’s strategic programs over the long run. b) Achieve sustainability through responsible and prudent investment strategies while being governed by clearly defined investment guidelines, withdrawal policies and audit disciplines.
