About This Cause

KWH Law Center for Social Justice and Change is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization working to strengthen and support the well-being of women, children, and families with children, by promoting racial and gender equity, and economic, educational, and healthcare equity. Our work is focused in the area of advocacy and policy to improve structures, policies and platforms that will support successful opportunities for women, children, and families with children. We work to provide low- and moderate-income individuals, and families, with a strong voice in implementing programs, policies and laws that affect their lives. We work to improve laws and platforms that address domestic violence, equal pay for women, and programs focused on helping Native families find their missing relatives. We stress the importance of participating in civic engagement. We work to keep children safe while they are in school; and to reduce the number of children who are disciplined, expelled, or removed from public school primarily because of cultural misunderstandings. We work to ensure that every middle and high school in the state has a mental wellness room, a place where students can go when they are feeling emotionally stressed. We work to ensure there are policies to help people afford their prescription drugs; we work to developed coordinated behaviral health programs in New Mexico;, and we work to ensure individuals have access to quality, affordable housing and healthcare.
