Mission Statement
Hope Haven serves to house neglected and abused children from the community of San Pedro Belize as well as provide a safe space where community members can seek counseling, receive a hot meal, and take part in community classes on parenting self-defense, and empowerment.
About This Cause
Hope Haven is the only children’s home in San Pedro, Belize housing abused and neglected children that are placed in our care through the Department of Human Services. The children in our care receive mental health and education services. We also offer emergency placement and outpatient counseling services to victims of domestic violence. The most common reasons why children are placed in our care are neglect and abuse. In addition to serving as a children's shelter, Hope Haven is home to a community center offering: Counseling, Self-Defense, Foodbank, Parenting Workshops, Ballet, and Empowerment Sessions. In December 2021, Hope Haven opened our new Domestic Violence Resource Center to provide survivors of domestic violence with a safe place to stay, job placement assistance, job skills training, financial literacy training, pro bono legal services, mental health services, and more.
