Mission Statement

The Chicago Humanists are a welcoming community committed to anti-racism, gender equality, the embrace of science and reason, social justice and the right to love and marry whomever you want. We believe that religious freedom includes the right to not believe at all. We work to uphold human rights and civil liberties in an open, secular society without discrimination for religious reasons. We promote secular Humanism in Chicago as a progressive life stance, affirming our responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good. We believe in being good without a God.

About This Cause

As the community for Humanists in Chicago, we organize discussions with exciting speakers, provide volunteering opportunities and socials for our members and interested friends. The Chicago Humanists advocate for secular government in Chicago and Cook County without discrimination for religious reasons. Our Celebrants offer secular life cycle celebrations such as weddings and naming ceremonies as an alternative to ceremonies in church. We strive to grow the community for Humanists in Chicagoland and promote our life stance of being good without a god.
