Mission Statement

Pambanisha is a Swahili word that means “come together.” We are an organisation that supports human rights defenders to continue their work; and to support children to attend schooling by directly granting to trusted in-country partners. Our mission is to direct small, strategic grants to individuals and community organisations where we know there is deep community engagement and material outcomes for local communities. All donations are directed in full to our community partnerships. We're currently working in Kenya and Tanzania.

About This Cause

Pambanisha was founded by our President, Christina Kenny, after she completed over a year of her doctoral research in Kenya in 2012 - 13. Christina has been working with Kenyan partners in the nine years since that first trip, and was keen to continue to support the human rights defenders supporting women's rights including tackling issues of period poverty, access to education, emergency safety grants, and stipends which enable these tireless advocates to continue their vital community work. Over the years, the scope of projects supported by Pambanisha has grown, and with this growth came the exciting opportunity to register the organisation as a 501(c)(3) organisation to better support our in-country partners, and formalise our giving structures. We are so appreciative of your interest in this project, and are proud of our longstanding commitment to our partners, which in some cases spans almost a decade. If you have any questions at all please check out our website, and/or email us. Christina and the Pambanisha team
