Mission Statement
WAYS for Life provides wraparound youth services (WAYS), resources, and guidance for teens and young adults formerly in foster care and those experiencing homelessness. In addition to supporting the successful transition to adulthood, we promote awareness of the needs of our members in our community and beyond. We are a diverse, family-like community that supports, inspires and empowers the teens and young adults we serve.
About This Cause
WAYS for Life (WAYS) is a solution-based drop-in skills center supporting youth ages 15–25 in homelessness and crime prevention. WAYS offers unaccompanied youth and youth aging out of foster care a unique therapeutic environment with an Educational Learning Lab where they receive a volunteer mentor as well as access to a multitude of critical services all under one roof. The services include connections to affordable housing; the WAYS GED FastTrack and WAYS Career Pathways programs which are equipped with volunteer tutors and job coaches to help youth obtain their GED or high school diploma and then pursue a career of their choice; mental health therapy; health care navigation services; legal services; monthly life skills classes including those focused on financial literacy, how to be a good tenant, employment, career choice, obtaining a driver's license, how to buy a car, health and wellness, professionalism, character development, and parenting for young adults with children. Members of WAYS also have access to a food/clothing/housewares/personal needs pantry, as well as activities and events. We understand that until immediate basic needs are met, it is nearly impossible to contemplate the future...and WAYS believes that all young people deserve the opportunity for a successful future.
