Mission Statement

Red Door Urban Missions (RDUM) is a grassroots community and faith based, non-profit mission organization that holistically serves under-resourced and underserved children, youth, adults and families within communities that have been marginalized, neglected and ignored. Our vision is to holistically build, repair and fortify the broken within urban communities. Our mission is to bring practical life changing tools and resources with dignity to the impoverished that will empower and strengthen that ultimately leads to self-sufficiency powered by hope and faith. It is our aim to inspire vision and hope for how God can use people of all ages, of different people groups to reach out to the hurting, hungry, homeless and lost in our city.

About This Cause

Recognizing the need for a program focusing on the needs of children, youth, and adults with fewer resources at home, in 2017 Red Door Urban Missions was born. Seeing this need to provide wholistic support to those that are struggling in their daily lives by offering after school structure, literacy intervention, mentorship, trauma therapy, social emotional learning, meaningful social opportunities, and life guidance to at risk communities. RDUM strives to provide underprivileged children and youth with the support and guidance they need to realize their own potential and make positive decisions. This is accomplished by participating in activities with other children through our after school program and workshops,or spending a few hours a month with a positive adult role model to build successful futures. Our programming was created to provide a means for the children and youth in the community to become empowered and motivated by education and other extra curricular activities. Our goal is to empower, uplift and impact these scholars in every walk of life by providing community enrichment and outreach programs, education, sports and recreation along with mentorships. We hope to enable each person in the communities that we serve to develop a positive sense of self, to acquire teamwork and group social skills, and to become productive members of society. We cater to children 5-18 years of age that are coming from different racial and ethnic backgrounds that may be at risk and that are coming from economically and socially challenged communities. We to make sure that we provide robust enrichment programs for scholars in helping them to prepare for the future. We provide workshops and after school programming for vulnerable kids to promote literacy, life skills, social skills, academic success, and creativity via our art programs. We also have a one-on-one mentoring program for qualified kids. Our programs were created to empower our youth by protecting, healing, and teaching them by allowing them the chance to grow outside of their comfort zone and explore a world that is greater than the one they know of. We want to encourage them to strive for the best and to know that they can achieve their goals. In all our programming, we encourage: • Fun - We provide and strive to maintain a fun environment. • Care, Compassion, Love - We welcome, value and accept kids as they are. • Relationships - We create meaningful and impactful mentor/mentee relationships through quality time and time spent between children, teachers, and each other in our after school and tutoring programs. • Support - We are committed to provide unconditional support to children and youth in the community as they grow and pursue their individual passions and dreams. The areas that we serve in are all plagued with gang violence, drug abuse, high rates of unemployment and single parent lead homes. All factors that continue the cycle of poverty for generations of families. Children and families benefit from our services through us providing a safe afterschool place for youth with programming that will increase their academic achievement as well as expose them to group sporting events. So as we strive to continue to develop promising leaders of today and future leaders of tomorrow, we see our vision to realized in our precious communities through: • Creating lasting memories beyond the streets, gangs and drugs seen daily • Learning the importance of building a firm Christian foundation for spiritual growth at a young age • Realizing the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ vs a religious experience • Building fundamental mentorship/disciple making and leadership core elements: strong character, vision/passion, skills and knowledge all centered around a biblical framework and perspective
