Mission Statement
CDP Company's mission is to promote wellness for dancers, educate the community on the benefits of movement for physical and mental health, and create works that spark thoughtful engagement.
About This Cause
For two years prior to the creation of the non-profit Cleveland Dance Project Company (CDP Company), Founder and Executive Director Anna Cerveny was the director of an LLC that shares the name, Cleveland Dance Project (CDP). CDP produces a biannual community dance showcase and training opportunities for non-professional dancers in Northeast Ohio, and the engagement was growing quickly. However, as a Dance Rehabilitative Physical Therapist and a passionate advocate for the health benefits of lifelong movement, Anna noticed that there was a need in the community for a company of dancers to inspire, educate, and support adults in injury prevention and in learning ways to integrate movement into daily life: and the non-profit CDP Company was born. A foundational community movement training that CDP Company provides is the dancer wellness series, though the non-profit has expanded to serve non-dancers as well. Knowing well the physical, emotional and mental health benefits of dance, CDP Company now offers outreach movement workshops for underserved adults through community partnerships with organizations including but not limited to Laura’s Home, The Gathering Place, and Friendly Inn. Since its founding, CDP Company has performed at and partnered with the Museum of Contemporary Art, DANCE Cleveland, Stephen Petronio, Urban Dance Cleveland, and the Center for Applied Drama & Autism. It was named RAW Artists Top Performance Group in the USA in Sept 2019, and in 2022 was awarded a Hollywood Music & Media Awards Music Video Nomination for “Seeking Serenity”, a dance video highlighting overcoming mental health stressors of everyday life through movement.
