Mission Statement
The Opportunity Agenda is a community dedicated to building narrative and cultural power to move our nation toward a vision of justice, equity, and opportunity for all. We build the public imagination and cultural will to challenge white supremacy and its pervasive impact, work in community to overcome opposition narratives that exclude and divide us, and advance narratives that support opportunity for all.
About This Cause
The Opportunity Agenda was founded in 2006. Since that time, we have provided communications tools, training, support, and resources to more than 30,000 social justice leaders around the country and placed hundreds of print, broadcast, radio and on-line stories that have reached hundreds of millions of Americans. We have also informed the development of opportunity-expanding policies nationally and in key cities and states, and shaped Executive Branch policy on key opportunity issues. We have also catalyzed and incubated dynamic arts activism. Together, our efforts have afforded millions of Americans greater and more equal opportunity in employment, housing, education, transportation, and safety net protections. They have helped to preserve and uphold cherished human rights. They have built the communications and cultural capacity thousands of policymakers, organizers, faith leaders, artists, and other positive change makers. And they have begun to move key American audiences toward a sustainable vision of opportunity for all.
