Mission Statement

Acute malnutrition causes 192,000 preventable childhood deaths in Nigeria annually. Taimaka is changing that by treating children in an innovative malnutrition treatment program that’s 53% cheaper than existing options – allowing us to treat more children without compromise.

About This Cause

Acute malnutrition causes 192,000 preventable childhood deaths in Nigeria annually. Every one of those deaths are preventable because highly effective malnutrition treatment exists. Unfortunately, treatment is too expensive, meaning that it only reaches 25% of the children who need it. Taimaka solves this by treating children in northeastern Nigeria for 53% cheaper than existing programs, thanks to a suite of clinical and technical innovations we have integrated into our treatment program. We know that our innovative program works because we’ve treated more than 6,000 children and more than 95% of them have recovered. The combination of our low costs and high recovery rates have led charity evaluators like Founder’s Pledge to rate us as a top charity in global health and development.
