Mission Statement
The Issaquah Highlands Community Fund (IHCF) stewards charitable contributions that enrich lives and address the needs of Issaquah Highlands.
About This Cause
Issaquah Highlands is a Built Green® community with a motto of Living Green™ and a focus on environmental sustainability. Funding and providing environmental education for the Issaquah Highlands community focused on ecological sustainable lifestyle practices, and land stewardship education that seeks to preserve the natural environment for generations to come is a category of planned activity. These activities could include: • To reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources through energy conservation, green building options, waste reduction and alternatives to auto travel within the community. • To protect and enhance wildlife habitat. • To preserve water quality and quantity in ground and surface water and maintain the area’s natural water cycle. • To foster an awareness of our shared responsibility as stewards of our built and natural environment. IHCF will fund adult and youth civic and community leadership development for residents of Issaquah Highlands. These activities could focus on: • How to best use your voice in community matters, and to foster open and positive communication within the community. • To understand how to build community while respecting the value and privacy of each individual. • To better understand how to be proactive in addressing issues and community needs. • To teach skills around the values of equity, diversity, and inclusiveness. • To learn how to participate in and contribute to community and local governance and affairs, maintain quality relationships within, and connection to, the greater community of which we are a part. The Issaquah Highlands is a Built Green®, technology-forward, master planned community that seeks to maintain its values as a vibrant and caring community, committed to service, diversity, stewardship and well-being. With these core values in mind, IHCF seeks to fund scholarships for Issaquah Highlands resident graduating high school seniors going to educational institutions in the areas of technology, sustainable building and environmental management, and social welfare majors. Life enrichment is also a core value of the Issaquah Highlands community. To encourage stakeholder participation by offering a variety of life-enriching opportunities, IHCF will fund public art and cultural events, establishing community traditions that will engender community pride, make a significant contribution to the quality of life, and celebrate success and recognize achievements of its residents. Disaster relief and/or emergency hardship assistance in the Issaquah Highlands. IHCF will provide grants in the form of funds, services, or goods to ensure that victims of a disaster have the basic necessities such as food, clothing, housing (including household repairs), transportation, and medical assistance and grants in the form of funds, services and/or goods for basic necessities to needy individuals who have encountered financial hardship for reasons beyond their control.
