Mission Statement
The objective of Glenwood Community Library is to maintain and operate a community public library that offers up-to-date technology, plus educational, recreational and cultural materials and activities for the benefit of the citizens of Catron County living within the Glenwood Post Office service area, which includes but is not limited to Glenwood, Alma, Pleasanton and Mogollon.
About This Cause
Glenwood Library is a unique rural library nestled next to the Gila Wilderness. It is sixty miles to the nearest stop light and 30 miles to the next closest library. In spite of our remoteness, we have a thriving presence in our community and offer over 15,900 items in our collection. We are the only facility in our area that provides public computers with high speed internet and printers, B/W and color copy machines, and a fax machine. For the convenience of our patrons, we have a website that makes it easy to view and search Glenwood Library’s collection in its entirety, renew and reserve items, as well as, receive notifications of upcoming library and community events. A Glenwood Library Facebook Page markets events to a greater audience, as well as, posts photos of the community activities we have sponsored. Every June and July, we offer a fun and educational Summer Reading Program for children and teenagers. Our monthly book club, which is going strong after 10 years, provides a venue for women of different backgrounds and ages to join together and discuss many topics. To generate more funds, we operate an Amazon bookstore where we sell valuable book donations and also offer two book sales a year. Glenwood Community Library provides its services through the management of a paid Head Librarian and 27 volunteers.
