Mission Statement
Peace Out Cancer is a 501(c)3 non profit organization whose mission is to loan free of charge recliner/lift chairs to breast cancer patients to aid in their post-surgery recovery.
About This Cause
We believe breast cancer patients should never feel alone in their journey, and there is a "boost" that comes from being surrounded by a community of love, kindness and positivity. By connecting with surgeons, nurse navigators and local hospitals, we help breast cancer patients feel loved, comforted and encouraged before, during and after their surgeries, which empowers them in their battle against breast cancer with a sense of peace, hope and strength. In addition to the chair, each recipient receives a soft blanket and an accompanying journal that travels with each chair, giving the recipient the opportunity to read the stories of prior recipients and to journal about their own experience. The journal than gets pasted to the next recipient with the chair. This creates a wonderful community of support that lives on long after the chair is returned. As important as the chair is in the healing and recovery process, it truly is "more than just a chair."
