Mission Statement

To empower low-income high school students in identifying, navigating, and attaining academic and professional opportunities, First Tech Fund provides a supportive, adaptive ecosystem where students get access to free tech, free broadband, skills training, social capital, mentorship, and more.

About This Cause

FTF provides students a year-long fellowship program that includes a free laptop they keep, unlimited broadband through a hotspot that connects up to 16 devices, specific targeted mentorship from industry professionals across 10+ industries as well as practical skills like financial literacy and college essay prep, resume and cover letter review, and opportunities to succeed through referrals to internships and summer programs locally and nationally that help them continue their momentum as they find the pipelines that propel them towards their goals. Our program meets 3-4 times a month via Zoom from September to June, where students not only learn important life skills, gain SEL competencies, but also get to build their first network with students from all over the city – and like we tell our students, a rising tide lifts all boats – we encourage them to share opportunities and insights with each other so that they can all rise to honor their dreams and aspirations. Once they graduate, they join our community of support, where we support them for the duration of their higher education journey into their first workforce opportunity. Finally, through our weekly opportunity emails (we send scholarships, programs, internships, volunteering and more) and alumni programming, we connect students to real-world opportunities.
