Mission Statement
We want to lead the fight to end hunger with partnership with our community and in service to our neighbors in need. We envision a community in which everyone has access to sufficient food. The mission of the For the people Taskforce is to address food insecurities by creating access to healthy food in every community through out Southern California. To acquire and distribute food and essential items to the needy in our communities.
About This Cause
For The People Task Force is not new to the community. Officers Fauzia Rizvi and Yousuf Bhaghani have been serving the community for years in different roles and capacity. During the early COVID19 days they heard the plight of the health care workers regarding the lack of PPE and food insecurity from the laid off workers. They co-founded the non-profit the "For the People Task Force” which has provided essential workers with over 20,000 homemade hand sewn masks with the help of a team of volunteers and has assisted community members with food insecurities and utility debt by hosting over 69 food-drives and paying off utility bills. In addition to our direct food distribution, FTPT also work as a local food bank receiving food products and other essentials on daily basis from different vendors and delivering them to 21 different organizations/ food pantries/churches in the area. Lack of warehouse space and access to refrigeration// freezer space has brought lots of challenges for the organization to accommodate the steadily increase requests for emergency food needs. One year into the pandemic the demand for food has not let up. Thanks to community support FTPT was able to acquire a used truck to store and transport food products daily, as we approach the summer months and we are in desperate need a refrigerated truck to be able to serve double the amount of community that is being served. The goal initially was to serve 5000-1000 families.
