Mission Statement
At Haven our mission is to support every woman and family in a way that is inclusive and equitable. In particular there is great disparity in maternal morbidity and mortality between BIPOC and white women in the United States and in the Sacramento community. Our goal is to provide doula care and other much needed pregnancy support to reduce death and injury to mothers.
About This Cause
At Haven we believe everyone, should have the birth experience they desire and that the end result should be a healthy family. We are so passionate about facilitating this that our services are available on a sliding scale or full scholarship. Our full service resource center includes prenatal, birth and postpartum doula care, birth and parenting education, lactation support, counseling services, manual therapies for physical well-being, fitness instruction, nutrition classes, a lending library and mother and baby supply closet. Justice is a word that connotes equality and respect. Haven is a program for birthing justice. Haven’s founders have first-hand experience with birth trauma that came from lack of proper support during pregnancy and childbirth. When our first born's births didn’t go as planned we dedicated ourselves to learning how to make sure the same thing didn’t happen in our subsequent births. We were both able to make changes and finally have positive empowering births. Out of these experiences Haven was born.
