Mission Statement
Working with existing community efforts, Brooklyn Community Kitchen provides meals to people in need through food rescue projects. Our mission is to offer nutritious meals that benefit the health of our guests. We hope to connect neighbors through food and face to face interaction, boosting the ability of the community to thrive together using sustainable practices.
About This Cause
Neighborhood food justice project offering weekly nutritious and sustainably sourced meals and other resources as available. Special initiative projects include providing masks, clothes, blankets, and other essential items to guests in addition to free meals, asking folks directly what they need, and offering care packages containing sleeping bags, masks, socks, hats/gloves, sanitizer, water and granola bars to unhoused neighbors. Over the winter months and in collaboration with mutual aid networks and churches, BCK has opened a respite space for unhoused folks to sleep sheltered from the cold.
