Mission Statement
To save the lives of Black and Brown mamas, birthing people and their infants by increasing access to critical pregnancy related support and enhancing the birth experience.
About This Cause
We are in the midst of a maternal health crisis. Although infant and pregnancy-related deaths have decreased worldwide, childbirth related mortality rates have more than doubled in the US since 1987 - with Black women 3-4 times more likely to die from a preventable pregnancy-related complication. Equity Before Birth is tackling infant and maternal mortality by supporting those disproportionately impacted -- Black and Brown moms and birthing people. We are wrapping families in support such as covering the cost of doula services, midwifery care, therapy and more. We give a cohort of working moms access to paid maternity leave when their employers do not. We work to increase access to healthcare services, essential baby items, peer support and more.
