Mission Statement
Lead with Love puts love into action to combat social injustices youth face relating to mental health, physical health, education, and exposure. We strive to empower youth and foster leaders within Southside Chicago's priority communities.
About This Cause
Lead with Love provides resources and events that align with our four pillars - mental health, physical health, education, and exposure. Our main priority at Lead with Love is to implement activities, services, and events that center a holistic view of each individual. Our youth leader program (Love Leads) offers mentorship to high schoolers aged 14-18 to facilitate their leadership development. These youth engage in community service projects, personal development workshops, and exposure trips. We offer free community wellness and healing classes through our Love Heals programming - yoga, meditation, support groups, and drum circles are offered year round. Focusing on physical health, our Love Moves program offers community dance practice each Saturday. Youth who participate in this program gain professional level training, technique, and expression of creativity free of cost. Providing families experiencing a high level of need with immediate relief is the focus of our Love Gives program. This relief can include distributing clothing, hygiene products, and food to and for youth and their families. In partnership with The Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation, our Love Educates program provides extracurricular after school and summer activities, including sports, art, social-emotional learning, general fitness, tutoring, and music production. Further, we host, at minimum, four larger events per year centered on various initiatives that combine our pillars. In the fall, we host a back-to-school celebration where we provide students and families the supplies they need to begin the new year successfully. In the winter, our Holiday Drive matches sponsors to families in need. The children and family members receive gifts from their wish list, food for a warm holiday meal, and mental health resources to assist them through the season. The spring season brings our Young Girls and Women's Wellness Fair, where individuals are given a safe space to participate in self-care and empowerment - activities during this event include distribution of hygiene and wellness products, health resources, childcare and baby items, facials, body scrubs, bouquet making, and much more. Our Safe Summer Fest celebrates our initiatives from the past fiscal year and assists in providing children and their families with the activities and resources they need for a safe, supportive, and enriching summer.
