Mission Statement

MESA is a transitional housing and wellness center that supports the transformation of the lives of transition age youth. This is accomplished through a focus on wellness, a holistic approach to the individual, the building of strong relationships within the community, and the therapeutic potential of regenerative agriculture.

About This Cause

Mesa aims to develop an innovative transitional housing and wellness center for Transition Age Youth. This is accomplished through: -A program that is holistic in nature and approaches each individual with that person’s history and desired future in mind -A focus on wellness -The building of strong relationships within the community -Access to a variety of therapeutic practices -Educational and Vocational support and training While it is generally recognized that additional housing is needed, studies show that an integrative and comprehensive approach to the needs of TAY will lead to better outcomes. Mesa aims to create an environment where TAY are given an opportunity to further themselves through community building, health & wellness, employment, and education. We accomplish this by moving upstream from the symptoms of homelessness, incarceration and dependence on social programs and intervening during a critical crossroads - the transition toward an adulthood characterized by resilience and strength through relationship. Our vision is to build a program that fosters this resilience through a holistic approach to the individual and their community. We know that young adults coming out of the child welfare system face significant emotional barriers. In order to move from anger and distrust in society toward trust and integration, we need to wrap our arms around the whole of the person. Stable housing and job training are necessary but not sufficient for a happy and fulfilled life. When we discover our strengths and passions, and develop interdependent relationships within our community, we push towards not only a more inclusive society, but one that benefits from all of our contributions. Mesa provides an environment where TAY can develop resilience and creates opportunities for healthy community and relationship building. Together we can help them prepare for a life that they may not yet realize is possible.
